PUA Openers

Iain opening a girl outside a shop.

Ever stood frozen in a bar, coffee shop or even a street corner, desperately trying to think of something clever to say to that stunning girl who just caught your eye?

Yup, we've all been there.

That's where PUA (Pick-Up Artist) openers come into play.

They're your ice-breakers, your conversation starters and when done right, they can totally change your dating game.

Whether you're learning from a coach or just through trial and error, mastering openers can make all the difference.

So what's the secret sauce behind an effective PUA opener?

First up, ditch the cheesy lines.

Trust me, women have heard it all before, and that "Did it hurt when you fell from heaven?" line is more likely to get you a laugh (or an eye-roll) than a phone number.

Instead, go for something that's genuine, original and easy-going.

Here's one of my favourites: observational openers.

Look at something around her or something she's doing, then comment on it in a fun, relaxed way.

Say she's ordering an exotic coffee at a café.

You could say, "Okay, be honest, did you choose that because you actually like it, or just because it sounds impressive?"

Delivered with a smile and a relaxed vibe, you've instantly broken the ice without coming off as needy or fake.

Another powerful type of opener is the opinion opener.

This involves asking for her thoughts on something interesting or slightly controversial.

It might sound like, "Quick question—do you think men or women are the better liars?"

It gets her involved immediately, sparks conversation and it’s naturally engaging.

The key thing to remember is your energy.

Women respond to your vibe more than your actual words.

Confidence is attractive; awkwardness—not so much.

Even if your opener isn’t perfect, if you deliver it with confidence and a genuine smile, she'll appreciate the effort.

Having a decent wingman with you can also boost your confidence and help keep the conversation flowing naturally.

Lastly, always be ready to follow up.

PUA routines can be handy here—they offer structure and confidence if you're feeling stuck.

An opener is just that: an opener.

Have a few interesting topics in mind to transition into once she engages.

Keep it light, fun and most importantly, authentic.

Give these openers a try next time you're out, and see for yourself how quickly they can change your approach—and your results.
